NY Central Park Conservatory Garden Wedding Engagement photos | Tatyana + Bryan
I had the pleasure of capturing Tatyana and Bryan's Central Park Conservatory Garden engagement session in Manhattan's Upper East Side on 105th street entrance. The park is a great background for any New York engagement photos and they definitely cater to New York weddings as well. When we walked in, the cherry blossoms were blooming, the tulips were reaching for the sun, the grass was green, and of course there were people everywhere! That's all right, since as a professional, I work with my bride and groom to ensure they have a blast as well as ensure their photos look like it's just them in the park. Tatyana was glowing and she picked a dress that Carrie from Sex in the City also wore...LOVE it! Bryan just looks dashing in his blue button down shirt and slacks. Definitely a great couple to photograph and work with. I wanted to showcase Tatyana's gorgeous dress in many of the photos as well as just show the romance in the simple posing given to the couple. Most of the time, I just told them to hold each other since that's your future spouse! Once they ear that, they get that twinkle and smile and the rest is captured. Hope you enjoy the teasers below!

Time Square New York Engagement Photography + Central Park | Giselle + Kelvin
Who doesn't know Time Square in NYC and when you're planning your Destination Wedding in Punta Cana, you might want a contrast of photos to get a more urban city-life feel to your engagement photos! I truly enjoyed capturing Giselle and Kelvin's engagement photos and couldn't wait to share these teasers. We first started the day at Central Park by Bethesda Terrace and by Bethesda Fountain to get that classic NYC feel that Central Park offers. Even with hundreds of people milling about, it just seemed like Giselle and Kelvin were alone in all of Central Park! The way they held each other, and how they interacted with one another definitely felt natural and full of love that whenever they decide to hug or kiss, you can feel the magic in the photographs. After playing with bubbles and me showing these two New Jersey folks around, we headed to Columbus Avenue to ride on the 1 train downtown to Time Square. A few quick photos and we started their Time Square New York engagement photography after a quick change in good ol' Starbucks. By the way, Giselle's makeup artist, Denise Tavarez from Kouture Makeup Designs in Northern NJ & NYC, did an amazing job on her makeup. It was still a hot muggy day during their engagement session and her makeup held up perfectly for their three hour photography session!! After ordering a cool drink, we were off to shoot around Time Square and again, even with the millions of people in this section of Manhattan, it felt like there was no one else but us enjoying the most lit up part of New York City. I love my job and I love meeting and getting to know people. To have met Giselle and Kelvin was an honor and such a breath of fresh air. I am so happy for them and me and my team at Angelica Criscuolo Photography wish you two an amazing future!

NYC Long Island City Queens Wedding Engagement Photos - Gantry State Park East River
Here are some more fun NYC Long Island City Queens wedding engagement photos inspiration from Elisabeth and Rob's engagement session. Normally sessions are an hour long, but when we're having fun, I never keep track of time. With these two we were just laughing and strolling along the "shores" of the East River and next thing you know the sun is setting. One of the final shots was with me on the ground (a normal occurrence...not because I fell...but that happens too - it's fine so long as the camera is OK!) taking a shot of Elisabeth and Rob walking towards the camera, strolling along. I then asked them to kiss and in that instance, I realized the sun is about to set, giving the sky a blue, purple pink hue!!! I quickly decided to heck with natural light, let's get some off-camera flash (OCF) lighting goodness and get these two in front of that back drop. Why OCF? If you see the 2nd photo using natural light, I exposed for the couple, making the sky washed out. But if you expose for the sky, then bring off-camera lighting into the mix, then the OCF light makes the couple pop from the background. Adding another OCF behind them separate them from the background even more, creating a pretty halo effect.
I had a light stand behind them with a speed light set to 1/64th power, and my Voice Activated Light stand (aka VAL...aka amazing assistant ever who's name isn't VAL) 45 degrees to my left, the couple's right. With the RapidBox (full power) tilted towards the couple with the edge of the RapidBox on the same plane as their eyes, we started shooting amazing photos I would hang on the wall in my own home! For the photographers out there who wants to know about the set up, I believe the camera was set to 1/200 sec at 4.0-5.0, and ISO 320-400. I was using a 70-200 f/2.8L IS II at the time to bring the city closer to my subjects. Yes, I planned the use of my light settings and lens for a reason.
With that, here's some more fun photos and enjoy! "LIKE" Angelica Criscuolo Photography and follow us to stay updated with Elisabeth and Rob's wedding as well as follow and stay updated with my work.

How to Prepare for your Engagement Photo Session & What to Wear - NYC Wedding Engagement Photography
1. Choose a location that best fits your personality and that has a place of meaning. Couples tend to me more comfortable in a surrounding they already know. However, many of my couples are from out of town so if they're not flying me or traveling me to a different location other than New York City, they come to me and I advise them a few locations that fits their personality and what they're looking for in a photo shoot.
2. I tell couples to dress however they feel is comfortable for them. Basically, whatever makes them feel good is best since we want a relaxed feel to their photos. If they want to dress up, they'll add the elegance and sexy factor to their photography session.
3. Let clients know to try not wearing busy patterns where one is wearing plaid, and the other is wearing stripes that just doesn't work. Fashion statements are everywhere, but not everyone understands how to put varying styles together. Most of the time I have my clients email me pictures of their outfits! If anything, letting clients know that bold colors are great for images is helpful enough.
4. If they have already chosen their wedding colors, then they can incorporate that color into their outfits as little details (a scarf, a shirt color, a blazer, a belt, etc). I do ask them to try not to wear too much black or white, but if they choose to do so to make sure they have a strong accent piece to give a pop of color and have that separation from all the black or white.
5. I have them think about wearing layers (from a nice jacket, to a sweater or cardigan that can be taken off...of course this depends on the season) so as the session progresses there can be a different look without changing an entire outfit.
6. I make sure clients view my website and get a feel for my style of shooting and what they can expect. I do let them know each photographer is different, so if there's a photo that inspires them, we can see if the inspiration can work in their session, but it's not going to look exactly like the picture.
7. I let them know that if they have any props (signs, flowers, scrabble pieces, iPhones with pictures, umbrella, anything!) then they should bring it and we can try to incorporate it in our session.
8. Make sure to tell them you'll be shooting close-ups of their rings so they should make sure to have their ring cleaned if possible, have clean and neat fingernails, or get a manicure. I let them know to bring lotion as well so their hands look fresh. If there are any other details important to them like a special bracelet or cuff links they've gifted each other, then they should let me know in advance so I can make sure to get those details as well.
9. Clients can also bring lip gloss, chapstick, powder, tissues and walking shoes if necessary!
10. Speaking of shoes, have them cleaned if there are a lot more scruff in them and remember socks do at times show up in full body pictures (sitting down) so make sure they match...yes there was an instance where it didn't really match and I had to work around it. It wasn't a big deal, but still a good point to let clients know.
11. One of the most important FYIs I let client know is that we will be shooting rain or shine except in hurricane/thunderstorm weather. I let them know we will plan the shoot accordingly closer to the date and if it rains we'll plan to shoot closer to overhang areas or just have fun in the rain! Of course it's up to your business model how you want to handle your re-scheduling process.
Additional Must-Know and how to prepare for your engagement sessions:
1. Ladies! Make sure you pay attention to your eye makeup since we do want your beautiful eyes to show. Eyeliner and good mascara are a must to help exemplify the windows to your soul. I love it when ladies smile with just their eyes in addition to real laughter and enjoyment.
As you can see, many of the above can apply to any photo shoot, whether it's an engagement session, or a wedding. If you do not remember to do any of the above, that's OK! This is just a guide to ensure you have enough information to prepare you for your photo session. As you can see, many of my couples are either dressed up with dresses and suits, or a sun dress and a nice shirt and pants for the men, to the more casual T-shirt and jeans. Many of my couples book multiple hours so we can have various wardrobe changes and go through multiple locations. However it is you want your engagement session to be, in the end, just enjoy, relax, and trust your photographer!

Marie & Don - Central Park In-Love Couple's Photography
When couples are in love, it just shows through the camera's lens. The way a couple can just be together and forget all about the world is just truly magical, and Marie and Don can teach us all a few lessons in love. They're both from Canada, but NYC and Central Park has a special meaning for them. Don surprised Marie with a trip to New York City when they first started dating. Marie had always wanted to go to NYC and experience what it had to offer so when they can they visit the city. It's hard to get away at times especially when you're running a school back in Canada, but love is patient, love is kind...and love will always be there when it's true as it patiently waits for a weekend of fun to just celebrate life. This couple's in-love NYC photography session was actually a gift for Don, who tends to be behind the camera so there isn't a lot of pictures of them together....what a great gift! I definitely feel the same way! :-) I just enjoyed this session so much and was very glad and thankfully blessed another wonderful client referred Marie and Don to me. To meet them and other couples, enjoying their company, learning their story, and finding out more about how they met and what their life is like definitely makes a full day's work worthwhile. It doesn't even make it feel like work, just all of us strolling through Central Park taking photographs by Bethesda Fountain and Bow Bridge and having fun on a beautiful winters day! They were actually back in NYC this past Valentine's Day and in a few weeks they're off to Barbados to celebrate their anniversary...Don proposed to Marie at the Crane Resort! Yes, for those that has been following my blog, I was just there shooting a destination wedding...what a small world! Thank you Marie and Don for a fabulous photography session!

T&M's NYC Sunset Wedding in Chelsea
Nothing like a NYC summer wedding to photograph to show how much love is in the air. He's from Canada, she's from New York, and together they are the sweetest couple you can meet. With the threat of rainstorms all week, Tina & Matt's wedding was nothing but sunshine...well a lot of it. However, you couldn't tell it was about 90 degrees outside with the way this bridal party carried on. With a bottle of water in each of their hand we set off for Central Park after a touching first look at the Park Central Hotel in Manhattan, New York City. The hotel was busy and packed with tourists, but I found a section that was more calm and had the groom stand there and wait for his bride to come up the stairs. Tina looked amazing in her custom made gown created by one of her bridesmaids Namyoung Park (Nammade). Every detail is very much like the bride's personality and it was no wonder Matt had the reaction he did when he first saw his bride in her gown. After a touching moment, we were off to the Park. I figured start the session inside a tunnel to wean the party towards more sun later on. After this scene, headed to Bethesda Fountain and cooled off underneath the gorgeous archways and ceilings by the fountain. We ended the session at The Mall...However, we lost two groomsmen on the way out of the park, so the ladies decided to get a quick picture by John Lennon's "IMAGINE" tribute. All in all it was a fun photography session, and an even more fun reception! One highlight of the night was the groom serenading his beautiful bride. Yes, he sings and plays the guitar and I can attest to the fact that every woman in the room swooned whether they were already married or not. It was amazing to hear and see and I was very happy to capture it all. Even more amazing was the sunset. The reception took place at the Sunset Terrace in Chelsea Piers and it was definitely a sunset to behold. The backdrop looked amazing and this photographer took advantage of the gorgeous colors. Tina and Matt, thank you for giving me the honor to photograph your wedding. Here are a few highlights from their wedding day as well as their photo sliedeshow!

New York City Engagement Photo - C+J at South Street Seaport
I enjoyed shooting this New York City Engagement session with Christina + Joseph at South Street Seaport!!! Not only are they obviously in-love, but they are fun, lively, adorable, and were ready to do anything for a fun session. Right from the start the two hit it off the first time they met and got along extremely well...as if they were meant to be! During a vacation in Lake George, Joseph proposed to Christina and simply stated that they shouldn't go out to dinner as boyfriend and girlfriend, but as something more...his fiancé. Christina wept...and of course she said yes. Her ring is a heirloom from her great grandmother! Such a beautiful piece of art and these two are so lucky to have found one another and they cannot wait to start their journey together. Their wedding is in the spring of 2014 and their friend made a cute umbrella with their Save The Date! Great idea and it made a wonderful prop for pictures. South Street Seaport is a favorite place in New York City, and so glad that's where they decided to do their session there. The place was vibrant and full of life, just like our wonderful couple. Christina had many ideas and I LOVE it when couples share their vision and I am more than happy to meet the challenge of making that vision become a reality. After looking over their images, I just sighed the whole time since I just felt their love through their photographs. This is why I do what I do so I can capture what I see, and share it with in-love couples so they can have those memories forever. I am happy they loved the pictures so here's a few teasers from their engagement session! Proposal in Grand Central's Whispering Gallery E + N
A few weeks ago, I was asked to take part in a secret mission...Now I'm all about secrecy and keeping everything in the "DL" (is that how you say it these days?) and I pride myself in being great at keeping secrets. I'm so good at keeping secrets that I tend to forget what the secret is all about until someone brings it up! Yup, my brain is Fort Knox except I don't know where the key would be after awhile :-). In any case, I was very excited to know that the secret mission had to do with a surprise proposal! Love proposals and love being a co-conspirator! So about our couple, Eugene and Nicole met while working in an Apple store years ago and they have been inseparable since. How cute is that? First working in an Apple store (awesome in itself) then being able to flirt with the cute guy/girl you see almost everyday (that would make sure you're never late going to work!), then going out with said cute guy/girl :-). Well, after finishing school and finishing law school, Eugene thought it was time to start the next chapter of his life with the only person he could ever imagine spending his life with, and that was Nicole. He definitely wanted to do the proposal at the Whispering Gallery in Grand Central Station. For those who never heard of the area, it is located just outside The Oyster Bar downstairs. When two people stand at the opposite end, you can really hear them speak or whisper as if they were right next to you! I tried it with Eugene right before Nicole showed up to make sure the legend was true :-D. In order to get Nicole to the area, Eugene pretended they were meeting people for dinner at the Oyster Bar. Once she showed up, he mentioned he wanted to try something...and the rest was history. You can see from the pictures the progress of the proposal and let me just say it was one of the best proposal I have seen. As I was taking pictures I was tearing up and made myself stop because I needed to see what I was taking pictures of and make sure everything was in focus!
Congratulations Eugene and Nicole, you two are going to be very happy together I am sure of it and here's to a new adventure!
The location....
The wait....
The whisper...
The realization.
The response...
The reply...which was "YES!"The reality...The tears of joy...The love...The victory...
The beginning...The ring...The "I still can't believe this is happening" look... The "I can't stop myself from smiling"

New York Engagement - Jacqueline & Thomas
I'm so happy to share these photos from Jacqueline and Thomas' engagement session! We shot in the lower east side of Manhattan in Stuyvesant Town. With NY's unpredictable weather, it was raining a bit, but you couldn't tell with the way J + T smiled at one another! L-O-V-E was definitely in the air and these two college sweethearts deserves so much happiness. We centered our session in front of the Stuy-town fountain since that was the location where Thomas proposed. Very sweet and I wish them all the very best! Here's a few images from their fun session. My favorite (and J + T's favorite too) is the pose with the squirrell. I swear Mr. Squirrell...I shall name him Jack... wanted to be part of the shoot. He was staring at us for quite awhile until he finally photo bombed the picture! Sneaky little thing. He stole the show, but only for a moment :-).
