Congratulations on your wedding! Was it a New York wedding? A destination wedding? Was it held on a rooftop like Tribeca 360 modern space event, Midtown Loft, or Gary's Loft, or did you say your I Do's in St. Patrick's Cathedral and had a reception at the Park Plaza or the Regis Hotel? Maybe it was at Oheka Castle, or by the beach or water like Peconic Bay Yacht Club, or Old Field Club in Long Island? Regardless of where it was held, I'm sure everything was beautiful, and all the wedding planning leading up to the big day was all worth it. After saying your vows and dancing the night away, it's natural to take some time to enjoy married life - yes, you're married! - and soak in wedding bliss.
Do You Need A Wedding Album? Can You Make Your Own?
Congratulations on your wedding! What was the most memorable moment that you remember? Who was there? What did you fell throughout the day? Hard to put into words the description of a special and emotional day at times because weddings are just filled with back-to-back events that you may, or may not, remember. This is why many of my couples design their wedding albums with me. It’s not just an album of pictures, because your wedding album is a piece of your story from your wedding day. It’s a beautiful and cherished heirloom keepsake designed and created so generation of friends and family will enjoy reviewing your memories. It’s a display piece and a work of art that you can leaf through on your anniversary or special occasion, or just on a rainy day. It’s what helps you and your spouse remember your biggest day, the guests that witnessed and celebrated it with you, and the places and details that was part of it all.
Wedding albums are custom designed for each couple and their specific needs. A luxurious, fine art wedding album is not the same as creating an album you can purchase in your run-of-the-mill online store. The quality and craftsmanship are not the same, and unfortunately, you get what you pay for, meaning the album does not last the test of time. Albums that are mass-produced are as meticulously created. The albums we provide are hand-bound and inspected for quality.
Not all weddings are the same, so isn’t it important to design an heirloom album that caters to your needs? Isn’t it also important to have your wedding album created by a professional, so it stands the test of time?
We believe so too! In an age of digital images locked in a smartphone, tablet, or computer that could be wiped out in a blink of an eye, a wedding album stands the test of time and keeps the excitement and the special moment alive for many years to come. Other ways to enjoy your photos are with wall arts, printed images, and protected inside a custom image box with your photo on the cover, with interchangeable matted prints to showcase on your mantel. Whatever you decide, I’m here to help you create your wedding album so that you can relive your wedding memories time and time again.

NYC Photographers in Las Vegas for Glamour Photography
Last week I spent a few days working in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a wedding photographer from New York City, the chance to photograph in the desert, with a different scenery than an urban landscape, really appealed to me. I brought with me a few Sew Trendy Accessories dresses, a few more gown dresses, and photographed beautiful women with the Nevada mountains as a backdrop. Just in time for International Women's Day, I wanted to depict strong women, who still showed their feminine side while looking powerful in the glamour photos. Pictured here is Karenn from Las Vegas, a fellow Filipina who I met in Vegas and she was amazing. For the photographers out there, I captured the photograph with my Canon EOS 5D MarkIV, 24-70 2.8L at 27mm, Aperture 2.8, ISO 100, SS 1/200. I had a -3 stop ND Lee filter on my lens and lit Karenn with the help of Magmod spheres, grids and CTO gel on my Flashpoint Godox AD200 camera right on a Westcott light stand fired at full power.
The sun was setting behind the mountains at just after 3:24pm so it was still bright light outside. So bright with the sun directly in front of me, that I always caution to make sure photographers are keeping their eyes and cameras safe from the direct sun. However, at this point the sun, as seen from the photo, just started to go behind the mountain so I was able to open my lens to 2.8aperture from 5.0.
Other equipment used for this session included my SpiderPro Dual Camera System belt from Spider Camera Holster (will never leave home without it!), ThinkTank bag to carry my lenses and flash, SanDisk CF and SD cards, oh and RayBan sunglasses because the Nevada sun is bright!
Follow my Facebook page to see more of my work as well as my Instagram page. Feel free to ask any questions about the shoot whether you want to setup a photo shoot for yourself (portrait, engagement photos, pre wedding photos, anniversary photos, couple photography, bridal photos, headshots, etc), or if you're a photographer and want to learn more techniques.
Enjoy your day and make sure you do something fabulous today!
xoxo

Portraits Are More Than Paper - Why photographs are very important and lasts forever....
Today I read a post by Jeanine Thurston, re-posted by so many photographers and non-photographers alike, and the letter that created the post stirred old memories that I too had to post it: http://fototails.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/a-letter-on-my-doorstep-portraits-are-more-than-paper/ After reading the letter, I cannot help but feel this person's regret of not understanding how pictures are so much more lasting than "trivial" items. Portraits and photographs are more than a piece of paper, since it helps memorialize an event or a person or a special memory of a newborn being born or children growing up with families, a wedding, and more. From time to time I do get the "oh no! there she is again!" when I take out my camera and start photographing family and friends when we're together privately or out so I can capture those memories. Many say their memories are in their mind and do not need photographs or videos of an event, but for me, personally, I love having a tangible visual of an event or memory with my husband, family and friends. Why do I do it? I do it because I know memories are fleeting. Getting older, my memory is not what it was years ago...and that is scary. How many times have we told ourselves I'll remember this moment forever...but later stumble upon a picture (maybe years or weeks later) taken by someone else and you truly forgot that moment occurred? I LOVE going through my pictures from time to time and remembering time spent with those I love. I have folders of digital images going back from 1999 with a miscellaneous folder where I added scanned images of older paper photographs.
Maybe some think that going overboard...and some may think its not...but each of us must do what feels right and capturing memories the way I know how feels the right way. I also take pictures because I know often time pictures are all we may have left of someone one day. A sad thought but true...and it was true for Karen L. who wrote the letter. Her letter has made this past hour an emotional roller coaster, leaving people wondering why I look like I've been crying...so here I am pretending to have a cold, but in reality I'm remembering the feeling of not having that picture I wanted and needed of someone who suddenly passed on. When my father passed away in 2007, I was creating a memorial board of him, and realized that the last picture I took with him and I alone was taken...well I couldn't find one. Honestly the last good one (not blurry or anything else) was from 2001 when I graduated college. There was one picture from my birthday party my dad threw for me at his house in 2005 that had me, him and my siblings together, and I had to cut out my siblings so I can frame that picture of me and my dad in my apartment. The picture was also blurry, but it was all I had standing next to him. Other pictures before he passed was of me taking the picture, or a group picture. Just remembering that realization made me panic. This was the eve of my father's wake and I'm scrambling to find pictures of my dad and me and I couldn't find a one.
Photographs of any event or a portrait of your family or pictures with friends are something that should not be taken for granted. For many they are not just a want or a need, but a priceless memory that can be passed on. If you haven't read Karen L's letter, read on: http://fototails.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/a-letter-on-my-doorstep-portraits-are-more-than-paper/
Thank you Jeanine for posting this letter. Karen L. and many more are in my prayers.
Misha Nonoo - New York City Fashion Week by Angelica Criscuolo Photography
Meeting Misha Nonoo during fashion week was a colorful sight to see! New York City welcomed the highly acclaimed designer who had her show at MADE in Chelsea by the Highline. Her clothing line was truly feminine, with a touch of masculinity in a few pieces she created. Misha received her inspiration during her time in Italy and the Mediterranean. Her show, designed by Celadon & Celery Events, was filled with live Olive trees in various species. The smell and sight gave the feeling we were in Europe! See below her gorgeous creations and you can see how anyone would love to be these models wearing such fabulous clothing. Makeup was provided by MAC and the shoes were from Aldo's who both sponsored the shows held at Milk Studios. Enjoy and remember to stop by my facebook page and "like"! :-)

9/11...We Remember - New York State of Mind - by Angelica Criscuolo Photography
9/11....We Remember. This past weekend was a whirlwind of memorials and dedications. One commercial created by State Farm "Empire State of Mind" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=WozKutSbz8Y) really pulled some strings...not just because the commercial was made well, but because the Firehouse showcased in the commercial was the same Engine 205 Ladder 118 I visited earlier this year. Let me just say that these firemen were all very down to earth individuals who all had stories to say about that fateful day. Walking into the station, you can almost feel the presence of those that walked through the same hallways checking equipment, sliding down the pole when the alarm rings, or putting on over a hundred pound worth of gear...that's correct...A Fireperson has over a hundred pounds worth of gear at some point, not including carrying a person (if need be) through a roaring fire in a burning building. These men literally will put their lives on the line and talking to them and sharing their stories is just mind blowing. One cannot grasp what they do until you see how they live in a station first-hand. Here's a few photos from the station. They are by the Brooklyn Bridge in DUMBO and you can never miss their firehouse with their famous mural on their door. They are also a fun bunch since while one of them, Danny, was demonstrating his equipment in front of the truck, one of the lieutenants climbed on top of the truck with a bucket of water and poured it all on the uknowing fireman...and I was next to him! Good thing I looked up on time...I don't think my camera would have survived :-).
Cherry Blossom Festival - Brooklyn Botanic Garden
What a way to start the month of May! Attended the last day of the Sakura Matsuri Cherry Blossom Festival, which is the end of the month long Hanami celebration of the Japanese cultural tradition of enjoying each moment of the cherry blossom season. The last day of the festival was packed, and rightly so with all the cherry blossoms in bloom. Many dressed for the occasion, and others came as they were ready to picnic and lounge by the orchards. Below are some moments from the event. Enjoy!
Spring is here...and flowers are blooming!
Spring is definitely here! To see trees and flowers in bloom is a great feeling and we're all ready to shake off the winter and welcome spring and new beginnings. Yes it's still cold for my taste, but seeing flowers in bloom is just a very good feeling. I love flowers!
