NYC Photographers in Las Vegas for Glamour Photography

PortraitGlamourPhotosAngelicaCriscuoloPhotography002.jpg

Last week I spent a few days working in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a wedding photographer from New York City, the chance to photograph in the desert, with a different scenery than an urban landscape, really appealed to me. I brought with me a few Sew Trendy Accessories dresses, a few more gown dresses, and photographed beautiful women with the Nevada mountains as a backdrop. Just in time for International Women's Day, I wanted to depict strong women, who still showed their feminine side while looking powerful in the glamour photos. Pictured here is Karenn from Las Vegas, a fellow Filipina who I met in Vegas and she was amazing. For the photographers out there, I captured the photograph with my Canon EOS 5D MarkIV, 24-70 2.8L at 27mm, Aperture 2.8, ISO 100, SS 1/200. I had a -3 stop ND Lee filter on my lens and lit Karenn with the help of Magmod spheres, grids and CTO gel on my Flashpoint Godox AD200 camera right on a Westcott light stand fired at full power.

The sun was setting behind the mountains at just after 3:24pm so it was still bright light outside. So bright with the sun directly in front of me, that I always caution to make sure photographers are keeping their eyes and cameras safe from the direct sun. However, at this point the sun, as seen from the photo, just started to go behind the mountain so I was able to open my lens to 2.8aperture from 5.0.

Modern Photography for Portraits and Weddings

Other equipment used for this session included my SpiderPro Dual Camera System belt from Spider Camera Holster (will never leave home without it!), ThinkTank bag to carry my lenses and flash, SanDisk CF and SD cards, oh and RayBan sunglasses because the Nevada sun is bright!

Follow my Facebook page to see more of my work as well as my Instagram page. Feel free to ask any questions about the shoot whether you want to setup a photo shoot for yourself (portrait, engagement photos, pre wedding photos, anniversary photos, couple photography, bridal photos, headshots, etc), or if you're a photographer and want to learn more techniques.

Enjoy your day and make sure you do something fabulous today!

xoxo

New York Mets & Citi Field Hosts Answer The Call's Annual Game and Family Day Event

NYC_Photos_Answer_The_Call_Mets_CitiField_AngelicaCriscuoloPhotography-0082.jpg

The New York Police & Fire Widows' & Children's Benefit Fund held its 33rd Annual Game and Family Day hosted by the Mets at CitiField. With former Mets player Rusty Staub, also the founder of the organization, a selected number of children of fallen heroes threw the first pitch. Cormac Fahy (son of Deputy Chief Fahy), Peter Vega (son of Detective Familia), Ryan Lemm (son of Detective Lemm), and Austin Tuozzolo (son of Sgt. Tuozzolo). Their siblings and/or their family stood by them on the mound.  Citi Field NY Mets Event Photographer

One of the sweetest moments I saw during the event was with Mets closing pitcher, Addison Reed, coming out of the bullpen with Asdrubal Cabrera's bat in hand. Reed presented the bat to Austin Tuozzolo. The moment was so casual, that if you weren't looking, you would have missed the impromptu one-on-one gift exchange. Not sure what prompted the meet, but it seemed Austin wasn't sure what was happening so his mom and I were encouraging him to accept the gift from Addison Reed! Such a sweet child. Austin may have a future as a pitcher and he used all his pitching skills to throw the ball to ceremonial catcher Renee Rivera. Austin and his 4-year-old brother, Joseph, lost their father Paul, an NYPD sergeant, in a Bronx shootout last year.

Team players during an autograph session with the Answer The Call beneficiaries, were also happy to pose with Genesis Villella and her sibling twins Delilah Vega and Peter Vega. Their mother Officer Miosotis Familia, recently fell in the line of duty. Peter threw the first pitch for his family. Players that signed autographs included pitcher Steven Matz, outfielder Brandon Nimmo, catcher Renee Rivera, pitcher Paul Sewald, Fernando Salas, and pitcher Erik Goedell, Zack Wheeler.

Ryan Lemm was also honored to throw a pitch to Rivera. His father, Detective Joseph Lemm was killed on December 21, 2016 with five fellow soldiers by a suicide bomber in Afghanistan. Cormac Fahy, the son of FDNY Batallion Chief Michael Fahy who passed away during a house explosion in the fall of 2016, threw a ball as well. Seeing them both nod to Rivera after the pitch, it was a very heartwarming moment.

Although the organization reminds us of how important they are in supporting many families of fallen heroes, they are also imperative in creating a fun atmosphere where the beneficiaries can come together and remember their fallen parents, siblings, and family members and friends in a happier setting. The smiles and laughter shared during the event was something to see and feel. It was humbling and glad Angelica Criscuolo Photography and other vendors answered the call to help with the event at CitiField.

Star Struck! Meeting Jasmine Star & JD at The FIX New York

JasmineStar001.jpg

It's not every day a person gets to meet their idol and get really star struck. I'm happy to have met one important one, Jasmine Star and JD during The FIX. The photography world know Jasmine as an international wedding photographer based in Orange County, California who was voted as one of the Top 10 Wedding Photographer by American Photo Magazine  in 2010. She has built her business through hard work and perseverance and is now helping the photography world by sharing her experiences, providing much sought after advice, and stressing the importance of building excellent relationships with other photographers. JD is not just her supportive husband, but part of the team that photographs the gorgeous work Jasmine Star provides to her brides and grooms. Knowing how lucky they both are to be working side by side I couldn't help but be envious since I do miss just hanging out with my husband :-). As much as I want what Jasmine and JD have, the fact that I have one amazing and supportive husband is even more important to me. Seeing Jasmine and JD together just affirmed my belief that I am one lucky gal to be following my passion and art and to have the support I need at home to keep me motivated.

After the event, I posted the picture below to Jasmine's Facebook page and like a school girl I was happy and excited when she replied and thanked me. I should be thanking her again and again. As I posted on her Facebook wall, she really lit a fire on my "you know what" so I can bring my business forward...and I'm not looking back! So "THANK YOU" again Jasmine, for educating and supporting your fellow photographers and encouraging us to care about each other.

Learning from Jasmine was very inspiring. She and her team created theFIX to "help identify the weaknesses within a business, maximize entrepreneurial strengths, and outline the course of action to employ in 2012." Basically it helped create an understanding of how to grow one's business, avoid mistakes, marketing strategies and achieve the life dreamed by any photographer...to be free to take beautiful photographs and be happy with one's work and life. I've learned so much and now I've been saying I'm channeling my inner J* to ensure my business grows and moves forward so I can keep clients happy as well as my home life happy.

Many times when someone asked a question, J* would start with "This may rub you the wrong way...BUT.." and then she gave a reality check and ensured that there are many things that may hurt (breaking off a relationship with a client or vendor) along the way when you have your business, but it's better to deal with them with confidence and  to ensure you are moving forward and not moving backwards. After all, "sacrifice doesn’t guarantee success, it’s merely a prerequisite of success."

Here I am, happy as can be I'm standing next to someone I look up to (literally and figuratively!) and because of J* I'm making changes and not looking back.

Before meeting J*, me and a few fellow photographers were taking pictures in front of theFIX's backdrop and a few seconds later, in jumps Jasmine Star! I was clueless at first, but after realizing the three of us were screaming like banshees. Yes we were screaming with our mouths formed in smiles hoping someone is taking a picture lol. I think this is why Jasmine is laughing at us...or hopefully with us :-). (Jasmine Star, Cecilia Grace Mizin, Me, Janelle Rodriguez)

After getting a few pictures, I had to try Jasmine's seat. Very comfy indeed!

Jasmine Star is also Editor In Chief of EXPOSED. Here she reads excerpts from one of the articles written in the magazine, which covers a variety of subjects from Jasmine's life as a photographer.

During Jasmine's presentation, she stressed in building a very good network with other photographers. Thanks to Cassi Claire (Gardner) who created a Jasmine Star: The FIX NYC group, some of us were able to meet up, get acquainted, and put real faces other than our Facebook profile pics to the names in our group!  Here there's Christina Blanarovich, Me, Melania Timpani-Shertzer, Janelle Rodriguez and the rest of the group included (and pardon if I didn't get a pic of you or left out your names!!) Tessie Reveliotis, Arlene Chambers, Bob chambers, Cassie Claire, Tammy Cedar, Vanessa Belanovich, Allison O'Hara McCafferty, John, Phil Franchina, Michele Yacovello, Judie Zevack Castro, Kevin Mahoney, Robin Bakes, Sena Dzogbenuku Danquah, and so much more. Thank you all for making it a great night of learning, networking, and making friends!

Looking forward to a reunion with the group and those that missed the meet before The FIX NYC!

Portraits Are More Than Paper - Why photographs are very important and lasts forever....

Today I read a post by Jeanine Thurston, re-posted by so many photographers and non-photographers alike, and the letter that created the post stirred old memories that I too had to post it: http://fototails.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/a-letter-on-my-doorstep-portraits-are-more-than-paper/ After reading the letter, I cannot help but feel this person's regret of not understanding how pictures are so much more lasting than "trivial" items. Portraits and photographs  are more than a piece of paper, since it helps memorialize an event or a person or a special memory of a newborn being born or children growing up with families, a wedding, and more. From time to time I do get the "oh no! there she is again!" when I take out my camera and start photographing family and friends when we're together privately or out so I can capture those memories.  Many say their memories are in their mind and do not need photographs or videos of an event, but for me, personally, I love having a tangible visual of an event or memory with my husband, family and friends. Why do I do it? I do it because I know memories are fleeting. Getting older, my memory is not what it was years ago...and that is scary. How many times have we told ourselves I'll remember this moment forever...but later stumble upon a picture (maybe years or weeks later) taken by someone else and you truly forgot that moment occurred? I LOVE going through my pictures from time to time and remembering time spent with those I love. I have folders of digital images going back from 1999 with a miscellaneous folder where I added scanned images of older paper photographs.

Maybe some think that going overboard...and some may think its not...but each of us must do what feels right and capturing memories the way I know how feels the right way. I also take pictures because I know often time pictures are all we may have left of someone one day. A sad thought but true...and it was true for Karen L. who wrote the letter. Her letter has made this past hour an emotional roller coaster, leaving people wondering why I look like I've been crying...so here I am pretending to have a cold, but in reality I'm remembering the feeling of not having that picture I wanted and needed of someone who suddenly passed on. When my father passed away in 2007, I was creating a memorial board of him, and realized that the last picture I took with him and I alone was taken...well I couldn't find one. Honestly the last good one (not blurry or anything else) was from 2001 when I graduated college. There was one picture from my birthday party my dad threw for me at his house in 2005 that had me, him and my siblings together, and I had to cut out my siblings so I can frame that picture of me and my dad in my apartment. The picture was also blurry, but it was all I had standing next to him. Other pictures before he passed was of me taking the picture, or a group picture. Just remembering that realization made me panic. This was the eve of my father's wake and I'm scrambling to find pictures of my dad and me and I couldn't find a one.

Photographs of any event or a portrait of your family or pictures with friends are something that should not be taken for granted. For many they are not just a want or a need, but a priceless memory that can be passed on. If you haven't read Karen L's letter, read on: http://fototails.wordpress.com/2012/01/02/a-letter-on-my-doorstep-portraits-are-more-than-paper/

Thank you Jeanine for posting this letter. Karen L. and many more are in my prayers.

Acclaimed celebrity stylist, TV personality and designer Robert Verdi partnered with Yasmin & Jazmin to conceive the Y&J Multiplicity jewelry line. Celebrities, the media, and Verdi's friends were all at The Glasshouses on November 17, 2011 in Chelsea, New York City, to celebrate the preview of Verdi's creation, with the aid of LDC Design Associates . Verdi's inspiration stemmed from a trip to India and each piece show  the intricate work that is common in the entire collection. Verdi's good friend actress/comedian Kathy Griffin stopped by as well as Kelly Rutherford who plays Lily van der Woodsen in Gossip Girl; Acess Hollywood and Extra correspondent Maria Menounos; model/actress/producer Katie Chonacas; famed Heroes cheerleader Hayden Panettiere; daughter of famed Rolling Stone founder Keith Richards, Alexandra Richards who DJd the event; model/actress and famous DJ Sky Nellor who was recently on The Million Matchmaker and Paz de la Huerta who currently plays Lucy Danziger in Boardwalk Empire (who by the way was giving out a spoiler for the show!...like the baby she is carrying will unfortunately die at the end of season 2...sad.... ). Kardashian Kollection SEARS launch - Leibovitz Studio - by Angelica Criscuolo Photography

Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian along with their mom and successful manager Kris Jenner were in Chelsea yesterday, Tuesday September 6, 2011 to launch their new clothing line in over 700+ SEARS department stores. The fashion icons came dressed in their creations and were very impressed with the design created by Celadon & Celery Events and LDC (Lex Liang Design Corporation) for the event. Guests arrived even with the pouring rain, but the weather did not halt the occasion. Ben Zion from Baked by Melissa was at the event personally providing the baked goodies from the famous mini cupcake store and the Kardashian sisters were more than happy to have a few bites of the scrumptious treats.

Ben Zion, Partner and owner of Baked By Melissa designed this arrangement for the Kardashian Kollection launch event. He was my favorite man of the night especially since he loved to give us all the cupcakes and we were more than happy to oblige. Thank you Ben!A gorgeous arrangement created by Celadon & Celery Events

As previously mentioned, the Kardashians enjoyed the treats created by Baked by Melissa! So happy I was able to take home a few :-).

Me and Kaye at the launch party... a little time off from shooting :-)

Attendees came together for the Lifesavers Dinner from different backgrounds ranging from politics, science, media, entertainments and business. Each individual has been dedicated to raising the public awareness about suicide and support for the AFSP's research, education and advocacy programs. Joan and Melissa started the evening with their story of how this issue affected them directly after Joan's husband committed suicide and how mother and daughter dealt with the aftermath of such a tragic event. They continue to help others and are great supporters of AFSP with Joan being a founding member. The evening's gala was designed by Celadon & Celery and everyone was mesmerized of how the Jazz at Lincoln Center's Allen Room was transformed to a beautiful dining hall complete with cherry blossoms and creative center pieces. Bess Wyrick was on site ensuring every piece was in place for such a special occasion and once again C&C Events did an excellent job.

Celadon & Celery Events - Audrey & Vijay's Long Island, NY Wedding at Garden City Hotel

Weddings are beautiful ceremonies to attend and add the right design by Celadon & Celery Events, then you have a magical day, or night, to remember! Everyone at the Garden City Hotel were amazed with the details and vibrant colors of the reception's entryway for Audrey & Vijay's wedding celebration. Each angle guests discovered new things to see as they find their place card on their way to the cocktail hour. I had a lot of fun at this wedding since New York being a small world, I saw a few friends dressed up for the bride and groom's special day! Much blessings to the bride and groom as well as to their family and friends who all looked beautiful that day. undefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefinedundefined

French-American Aid For Children honors CHANEL

Another classy event at The Plaza this time with the French-American Aid for Children (FAAC). Celadon & Celery designed the event, where the FAAC honored CHANEL for their commitment to helping underprivileged children. The occasion also marks FFAC's 70th anniversary of The Bal des Berceaux, which is an elegant, black-tie affair featuring a debutante ball and live auction complete with a dinner-dance. Everyone looked glamorous in their gowns and tux and I am honored to have been there.

New York Headshot Session - Lia

Had the best time capturing Lia's headshots a few weeks ago! A beautiful woman whose career is taking off, Lia was great to work with. JP Makeup Design's Jen Paelmo was on site and created Lia's natural to the more dramatic look. The result was an amazing session and it was truly a wonderful experience working with such professionals! Here's a few teasers from the beginning of the session. Towards the end of the day, the three of us explored Astoria and captured more images of Lia with her gorgeous face, makeup and hair.

 Hea

Faces...

We all have that inner beauty that photographers capture in an instant. That's why portraits, especially candid portraits, show a person's true personality. Catching someone in their natural state often times captures their "true" self. Once they see how the camera can be their friend, and not something to shy away from, they become more relaxed and can look into the camera more comfortably.

Celadon&Celery Event:NY Junior League Winter Ball w/ Mary J. Blige

I was truly blessed to have been a part of this wonderful event! Thank you Celadon & Celery for inviting me behind the scenes of the New York Junior League's Winter Ball at The Plaza Hotel. One of the honorees was singer/song writer and highly acclaimed celebrity Mary J. Blige  who was one of many awarded that evening, specifically for her Leadership and Excellence in helping at-risk women in New York. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney presented Ms. Blige with the award. Celadon & Celery's work was simply fantastic and The Plaza's ballroom never looked better. The black and white theme included gorgeous centerpiece designs that varied from lampshades with hanging white orchids and flowers in bloom where rather than a usual vase, the centerpiece was encased in a black hand bag or clutch piece. Each table had a unique design, which truly created a breathtaking vibe in The Plaza ballroom making the night feel like a chic, stylish, fairy-tale event. Owner of Celadon & Celery Bess Wyrick was there to ensure each detail was set. Readers may also be interested in taking a few classes with Celadon & Celery during their floral workshops headed by Ivie Joy A                                   Agustin, the company's school director.
