South Farms Connecticut Wedding Photographer - Andrea & Marty

The White Barn at South Farms in Morris, CT, was a perfect backdrop for Andrea and Marty’s classic wedding. Looking at the setup for the reception, you can see unique and modern touches throughout the rustic and chic design of the space — a beautiful contrast to how the bridal party was dressed in their classy formal dresses and suits. The bride wore a dress from Kleinfeld, and the Groom looked dapper in his Richard Canali tux. Can I say the bridesmaids also looked terrific in their sleek dark emerald Anthropologie BHLDN dresses? The floral arrangements from Flowers by Justine brought everything together, including the Groom’s boutonnières. A beautiful wedding in contrast to the many New York city weddings this New York wedding photographer usually photographs this time of year. It was a joy to capture it all!

The day started with Andrea and her ladies getting ready, all decked in matching blue floral jumpers and robes. As Andrea finished with her hair and makeup, it was time for her to put on her dress. There was a breath of sigh as her sister finished zipping the back of her dress because Andrea just looked amazing. The dress fit perfectly, and the style was perfect for her personality. As I met with the men one mile from the venue, Marty was ready for the big day. After taking photos of him getting ready, we were off to the first look. At this point, you can see butterflies in both the bride and Groom’s stomach. Marty, looking away as Andrea walks up to him, he showed signs of not being able to contain himself. Finally, he turned around and saw his bride for the first time. She was perfect, and we gave them their moment to take time and enjoy the moment.

Taking their formal portraits was a breeze, even though there barely was any breeze and it was a hot day, but these two knocked it out of the park…err farm. They, along with the entire bridal party, were naturals, and all looked like they were having fun looking like they all came out of an editorial magazine!

When the ceremony took place, it was filled with much laughter and reminiscing thanks to the Groom’s long-time friend, who also officiated the ceremony. I’ve photographed many weddings in my ten years, and it’s always fun and personal when the officiant is a friend of the couple. Once the couple said their “I Do’s” they had their first kiss as husband and wife, and walked back down the aisle, as they were showered with lavender.

The guest walked into the reception area astounded with more beautiful decor, including wood cutouts of everyone’s name as their place holder! What a great touch. The cake looked delicious, thanks to Lilian Sanderson Creations. The food was also delicious, thanks to Fingers & Forks who catered the event. All in all, the rest of the night was danced away with everyone smiling, laughing, and enjoying celebrating the bride and Groom.

Congratulations, Andrea and Marty! May your new adventures be as adventurous as meeting one another in the mountain slopes! It was an honor capturing the moments from your special day, and my team and I wish you all the very best!

xoxo

How to Start Planning a Destination Wedding

Barbados-Destination-wedding-photographer-from-NYC-

For all of you who have ever planned a wedding, I bet 99.9% of you all have considered throwing caution to the wind and deliberated a destination wedding.  After the romantic idea of sweeping all of your guests off to the destination of your dreams has taken the backseat to reality, you may realize planning an out-of-state, or out-of-country, wedding can be a lot more work than you anticipated. So with the help of our friends at the Caribbean Shopping Channel we’ve developed some pointers on how to get started planning a destination wedding, outside of general wedding planning tips.  Caribbean Shopping Channel is a televised and online shopping network that caters to the US, Canada, and the Caribbean, and they have an amazing destination wedding curated shop, so who better than them to help us?!

Destination Wedding Photo Ideas Ceremony Details

Destination Wedding Photo Ideas Ceremony Details

1.  Research whether guests will need any shots or travel documents (passports, visas, vaccinations) in order to go where you’re planning your wedding.  The more barriers of entry there are to get to your wedding, the more likely guests will RSVP no.  Make it as easy as possible for them.

2.  Consider the date and location compared to the seasonal weather during that time (unless you don’t mind walking around during a rainy season in your beautiful wedding dress).

3.  Know the currency exchange rate so when you are talking to vendors, you are able to knowingly convert their currency into USD.  And with the power of the internet, research local vendors who have high customer satisfaction ratings.  You can also turn to your venue contact to make recommendations on all the other wedding vendors available.  Of course I make a pretty amazing wedding photographer myself (hint, hint).

4.  Find a local wedding coordinator.  You may think you can do it alone because you’re master organizer,

and I’m sure you can, but it really, really, really helps to have someone onsite at the location who knows his/her way around the area.  Even if it’s just the venue coordinator who is willing to help make recommendations for you and take over day-of duties, every little bit helps, especially when you’re in an area you’re not familiar with.

5. Research marriage license requirements and confirm with the local tourism board.

6.  Consider the attire of your bridal party.  Don’t make them wear heavy material if they’ll be standing at the wedding sweating in muggy temperatures, and vice versa at colder locations.

7. Create a destination wedding website for your guests that lists all pertinent information such as any travel documents they’ll need to obtain, the currency exchange rate, hotel blocks, transportation to and from the airport, transportation to and from the wedding, and things to do in the area.

Good luck!  I had a destination wedding and loved every moment of it. Trust me, it’s do-able with the right planning.

Wedding Album - Wedding Photography

Congratulations on your wedding! What was the most memorable moment that you remember? Who was there? What did you fell throughout the day? Hard to put into words the description of a special and emotional day at times because weddings are just filled with back-to-back events that you may, or may not, remember. This is why many of my couples design their wedding albums with me. It’s not just an album of pictures, because your wedding album is a piece of your story from your wedding day. It’s a beautiful and cherished heirloom designed and created so generation of friends and family will enjoy reviewing your memories. It’s a display piece and a work of art that you can leaf through on your anniversary or special occasion, or just on a rainy day. It’s what helps you and your spouse remember your biggest day, the guests that witnessed and celebrated it with you, and the places and details that was part of it all. Wedding albums are custom designed for each couple and their specific needs. Not all weddings are the same, so isn’t it important to design a heirloom album that caters to your needs? Isn’t it also important to have your wedding album created by a professional so it stands the test of time?

We believe so too! In an age of digital images locked in a smartphone, tablet or computer that could be wiped out in a blink of an eye, a wedding album stands the test of time. and keeps the excitement and the special moment alive for many years to come. Other ways to enjoy your photos are with wall arts, printed images and protected inside a custom image box with your photo on the cover, with interchangeable matted prints to showcase on your mantel. Whatever you decide, I’m here to help you create your wedding album, so you can relive your wedding memories time and time again.

The Royalton Properties Long Island New York Wedding Photography | Lara & David

Long-Island-New-York-Wedding-The-Royalton-Properties_0004.jpg

When I first sat down with Lara and David, I knew they were my perfect couple to photograph. They are funny, have great personalities, candid, and very sweet. The way they spoke about their family and their friends really gave the sense that the people they surround themselves with are important to them. Of course, as a photographer, it became important to me to not only capture their wedding portraits, ceremony and reception at The Royalton Properties in Long Island New York, but also capture their family and friends who have come to witness their special day.

Long-Island-New-York-Wedding-The-Royalton-Properties_0006.jpg

The first time I photographed Lara and David it was a very hot summer day. It was over three digits in New York City in Union Square, and yet, the groom never broke a sweat. The bride as well, and you wouldn’t know it was hot and humid outside. The two of them made it such a breeze for their engagement session, that it was equally a step in the park for their wedding. The colors, decorations, dresses/suits they chose, all was perfect to depict a very romantic day. These two Harry Potter fans also wanted to get some photos with their wands, so incorporating their personalities is always fun! I really wish these two love birds all the best. They deserve a lot of happiness, and I thank them for giving me the honor of capturing their beautiful wedding.

Jericho Terrace - Long Island New York Wedding Photography

Westbury-Gardens-New-York-Wedding-Photography

I finally get to sit and blog this fun and amazing wedding photos at Jericho Terrace in Mineola, New York! Let’s meet our couple. Angela and Angel met at a library they both worked in. They started getting to know one another, and then had their first date the day after Halloween! Years together, they realized they had so many things in common that they find they think about the same things…pretty much at the same time. These two are meant to be and Angel planned a surprise proposal in Niagara Falls. Angela had no idea something was going on, but once they arrived, had dinner, they started exploring. Angel at one point wanted to get closer to the falls, but had to tie his shoes. Angela wanted to take photos, and when she turned around he was down on his knees with the ring

Jericho-Terrace-Long-Island-New-York-Wedding-Photography

For their wedding they wanted something fun, classic, that looks romantic and still a little modern. For their first look and bridal party portraits, we headed to the beautiful Westbury Gardens in Long Island New York. It was a gray day, but we managed to make the photos look dramatic and sunny using in-camera magic! Their ceremony and reception was held inside Jericho Terrace Skylight Terrace room, and everyone looked like they had so much fun. Their entire bridal party was amazing to work with. The bridesmaids wore a deep green gown, and the groomsmen wore gray suits with green accents. I’m so honored to have photographed them, and I wish them all the blessings in the world!

New York Wedding Photography - Gramercy Park Hotel

I thought I’ve seen and photographed many New York weddings in my lifetime, but I was proven wrong with this Gramercy Park wedding. The ceremony was held inside the iconic private park. Did you know that this area was a swamp land, but was drained away to create a neighborhood to house a few elite? I believe Thomas Edison rented a house there, and Teddy Roosevelt was born there. So yes, with prominent neighbors only a few keys were made for those lucky to get a deed to the park. Since 1844 the gates to this exclusive park has been closed to the public (unless there’s special events in the year), but was opened to two brides, J & D for their beautiful wedding ceremony. Their family and friends surrounded them in a circle, an infinite ring of heartfelt emotions, witnessing two hearts becoming one.

After the ceremony, everyone was given refreshments and large white balloons. It was a sight to see all the guests walking to Pete’s Tavern, for a quick cocktail fair. After a bit of rest, everyone was off to the Gramercy Hotel for the reception. Guests were enthralled with the croquembouche, a very French cake made of choux pastry puffs piled into a cone and bound with threads of caramel. So delicious looking!! Here’s a few teasers from the wedding.

New York Wedding Photography - Central Park Boathouse

What a gorgeous New York wedding in Central Park's Boathouse in NYC! It always amazes me to watch a venue, already beautiful as it overlook a lake, and have it transformed before your eyes into an even more gorgeous scenery filled with blooms, lights, and a design amazingly by Celadon & Celery Events. Red in various hues was everywhere and the Chuppah created by Celadon & Celery was picture perfect with the backdrop of the lake sitting peacefully beyond the veranda doors. The bride’s gorgeous gown was contrasted by her beautiful red bouquet, while her bridesmaids in gorgeous red satin had a light pink and cream bouquet that definitely blended well with the theme of the wedding. Even the men wearing their red satin yarmulke created a beautiful and colorful scenery for the wedding. As the guests and bridal party were ushered to the cocktail hour, the venue and vendors worked to transform the ceremony space into an extension of the reception. Truly amazing! Below are a few details from the wedding. So gorgeous! Check out the linens, custom made for the wedding!

New York Wedding Photographer - Gary's Loft Rooftop Wedding in NYC

If you're planning your own fairy tale wedding, well this one is a good inspiration for a New York rooftop wedding.

The bride and groom, had their beautiful wedding in New York City where guests had a fantastic view of the Empire State Building on the rooftop of Gary's Loft. It's a beautiful venue where the ceremony and reception took place. The wedding ceremony itself was on the rooftop of the venue and when you walk in you cannot miss the Empire State Building in all its glory. Celadon & Celery events designed and transformed the venue using a black & white theme in lace!

They had a fantastic chandelier hanging above where the bride and groom stood, and everyone loved taking pictures under the masterpiece. After the beautiful ceremony where the minister talked about the lovebird's history and how they fell in love, the cocktail hour began, and all the guests enjoyed a refreshing beverage poured into mason jars.

The details were amazing, and it continued to the reception area one floor below. The tables had its black and white theme, and additional centerpieces were wrapped in either black or white lace. The modern twist to a vintage feel truly worked. The wedding was a gorgeous art and everyone was amazed by the details and feel of the overall wedding. I will never look at lace the same ever again! The bride had her dress made, and it was completed with lace and feathers. She completed her dress with a feather hairpiece and veil...very chic and classy! The father of the bride smile at his daughter and simply stated her dress was beautiful but did not know the concept of couture, which we forgive him for! Father of the bride looked dashing walking down the aisle with his daughter, and Logan was eager to greet his bride. The two already had their first look session, but you cannot miss the love in the air as they finally met to begin the rest of their lives.

The Old Field Club New York Wedding Photography - Lauren + Jason

Lauren and Jason had their beautiful New York garden wedding at the beautiful Old Field Club in Long Island, by the sea. They first started their journey at the Danfords Hotel & Marina to get ready. It was a beautiful morning, and the couple got ready with their family and friends. The bride and groom decided to have a first look, and the pier by the hotel was a perfect location. With Jason in place, looking amazing in his Generation Tux in navy blue, Lauren was escorted by her sister and mother. As she reached the pier, her sister and mom stayed behind and Lauren proceeded to walk towards her groom. At this moment, Jason cannot contain his excitement. Lauren is beautiful walking towards us, and as she tapped Jason's shoulder, he turned around and let out a display of adoration seeing his bride for the first time in her beautiful BHLDN Freesia gown, veil and shoes.

These two adore one another, and they are always laughing and smiling. After the first look and bridal portraits session, we took a ride on a yellow school bus to the ceremony and reception venue. Throughout the wedding portraits, ceremony, lavender toss as they walked down the aisle, and reception, it was a moment after moments of smiles and laughter. From their first kiss as husband and wife, to their first dance to "The Head and the Heart" by Rivers and Roads. It made photographing the day very easy, and I am very delighted to have captured their wedding.

What to Do After The Wedding

Congratulations on your wedding! Was it a New York wedding? A destination wedding? Was it held on a rooftop like Midtown Loft or Gary's Loft, or did you say your Do's in St. Patrick's Cathedral and had a reception at the Park Plaza or the Regis? Regardless of where it was held, I'm sure everything was beautiful, and all the wedding planning leading up to the big day was all worth it. After saying your vows, and dancing the night away, it's natural just to take some time to enjoy married life - yes, you're married! - and soak in wedding bliss.

Long Island New York Wedding Photography in Crest Hollow Country Club | Eliza + John Paul

NYC_Wedding_Photography_Long_Island_Crest_Hollow_Country_Club_W-348.jpg

LOOOVE this Long Island New York wedding photography in Crest Hollow Country Club with the gorgeous couple, Eliza and John Paul! Their wedding was such a blast from the getting ready at the Hilton Huntington Hotel, to their first look taken in the hotel's garden, their fun formal portraits at the Planting Fields Arboretum, and finally their beautiful wedding at Crest Hollow Country Club. When I edited the photos, I definitely notice that EVERYONE was laughing, smiling and having such a great time. It just showed how much Eliza and John Paul are loved and how they are surrounded by loving family and friends. Everyone had such a blast, and even their very good friend, who was their minister for the ceremony, was such a good sport when he was "gifted" with a Pope outfit John Paul seriously swore he had to wear for the wedding...as you can see from the formal portraits, he was ready to wear it for his two very good friends! All in all, my team and I could not stop laughing and smiling. Even my assistant had a whirlwind of an experience with our InstaMemory Booth being a hit with all the guests during the reception. Eliza and John Paul, may you have many years of blessings, fun and laughter and we are ecstatic to have been a part of your amazing nuptials!

What a great Long Island New York wedding Erica and Larry had at Stonebridge Golf Links & Country Club  set outdoors in the beautiful manicured gardens. It was truly a perfect day to take some wedding photos in New York! To think that these two met through a mutual friend (shout out to Liz!)  and on a fateful day when Larry was visiting DC, he just hit it off with Erica. In Larry's words, Erica simply makes him happy and she makes him a better person by supporting him with no questions asked. Erica knew Larry was the one because he learned early on that the way to her heart was through her stomach! I concur. Who doesn't love food!? After three years of dating, Larry proposed to Erica during a trip to Chicago. After landing and dropping off their luggage at the hotel, they headed to pick up a picnic basket, ate their lunch, and walked towards a fountain where Larry was nervously waiting to ask the big question. All the stress of hoping everything will go smoothly and the rain will hold off was well worth it. A passerby on her bike actually slowed down to make sure all was well because that's how much Larry looked nervous! The passerby was happy that it was a good nervousness and took a photo of them, which they used in their table card at the wedding.

I'm so honored to have captured their wedding. What a great bridal party and the guests were all just amazing that literally 99% of them were on the dance floor! Check out these teasers from the wedding and I can't wait to share more photos!
