Happy Independence Day everyone! Hope you're all enjoying the amazing fireworks celebrating this amazing county! Having hundreds of people with their camera phone or their iPad up in the air didn't faze me. I mean, every wedding reception is like a sea of smartphones and iPads. It is what it is! For my fellow photographers, how did you photograph the Macy's 4th of July fireworks celebration in the East River for the Independence Day celebration? Or fireworks wherever you were this evening?
To share my settings, I set my wide angel on my tripod and the lens was set to infinite on manual. I used Bulb mode with aperture ranging from f5.6-f13 (mostly at f/11) and ISO 100. I pressed my cable release for 4-10 seconds at a time, or to fulfill a full starburst with the rocket shooting up in the air to get the tail, the the fireworks prior to it disappearing. I tend to not follow the trails all the way at the end since the trails tend to be not as crisp and it becomes "messy" to my eyes. To each their own!
